The domestic equity market was trading rangebound in late morning trade, but there were plenty of stocks that caught investors’ fancy on Wednesday. 


Most active stocks in terms of volume 
ICICI Bank (number of shares traded: 0.62 crore), DLF (0.46 crore), PNB (0.46 crore), PowerGrid (0.36 crore), Vedanta Ltd (0.33 crore), Hindalco Inds. (0.31 crore), ONGC (0.27 crore), Bank of Baroda (0.26 crore), SBI (0.26 crore), Axis Bank (0.21 crore), Ashok Leyland (0.21 crore), Tata Motors (0.20 crore), ITC (0.20 crore), Idea Cellular (0.18 crore), HDFC (0.17 crore), NMDC (0.16 crore), PFC (0.16 crore), JSW Steel (0.15 crore), SAIL (0.14 crore) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (0.14 crore) were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange in Wednesday ’s session till 11.30 am (IST). 

Most active stocks in terms of value 
HDFC (Rs 270.62 crore), TCS (Rs 189.66 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs 169.99 crore), Indiabulls Houging Finance (Rs 153.56 crore), Cummins India (Rs 122.41 crore), RIL (Rs 112.61 crore), Axis Bank (Rs 108.15 crore), Maruti Suzuki (Rs 104.62 crore), Infosys (Rs 97.67 crore), Tata Motors (Rs 89.62 crore), DLF (Rs 89.09 crore), BPCL (Rs 86.21 crore), Vedanta Ltd (Rs 80.37 crore), PNB (Rs 78.52 crore), LIC Housing Fin (Rs 75.86 crore), PowerGrid (Rs 75.73 crore), SBI (Rs 73.89 crore), Lupin (Rs 64.89 crore), Hindalco Inds. (Rs 61.68 crore) and Tata Steel (Rs 60.91 crore) were among most active stocks in terms of value on NSE on Wednesday. 

The NSE Nifty index was up 4.40 points at 9318.20 around 11.35 am (IST). In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Power (down 1.85 per cent), Lupin (down 1.83 per cent), Adani Ports SEZ (down 1.15 per cent), Zee Ent. (down 1.15 per cent), Hindalco Inds. (down 1.05 per cent) and ITC (down 0.81 per cent) were trading in red. 

On the other hand, Power Grid (up 3.20 per cent), UltraTech Cem. (up 2.47 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 2.20 per cent), Infosys (up 1.40 per cent), HCL Tech (up 1.37 per cent), TCS (up 1.31 per cent), ACC (up 1.30 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 1.29 per cent), Ambuja Cements (up 0.85 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (up 0.76 per cent) were trading in green at around the same time. 

Most active stocks in terms of value help investors to identify the stocks with highest trading turnover during the day. 

Shares of Indbank Merc, Ganesh Housing, Godrej Prop, Transwarr Fin, Raymond, Himadri Chem, Cummins India, Mah.Lifespace, ADF Foods, GSFC, ABM International Ltd., Western India Plywood Ltd., KIOCL Ltd., National Fert, Ginni Filaments, Century Text, Euro Ceramics, Arihant Superst, Dollar Industries Ltd., Monnet Ispat hit their fresh 52-week high during the first half of trade. 

On the other hand Signet Ind, Anjani Portland, Lupin, Abbott India, TGB Banquets, Kaushalya Infra, Moser Baer, eClerx Services, Shekhawati Poly, FCS Software, Prakash Steel, Rasoya Proteins, SRS Ltd, Green Fire Agri, ATN Intnl hit their new 52-week low levels.
